Self Portraits with Silk Clay

#v12342

Children's personal and spatial intelligence is enhanced by this creative project when creating self-portraits and when modelling and mixing colours. When children depict themselves, they increase their self-awareness (self-wise) – and similarly by reproducing their own skin, hair and eye colour. They demonstrate how they see and understand themselves (self-wise). Children's spatial intelligence is enhanced when modelling and mixing different modelling clay colours to make the actual colours, thus learning how different colours react with each other.

How to do it
1 Guide step %d Use white, light brown and a small amount of red as shown for a light skin colour mix in Silk Clay.
2 Guide step %d Model the Silk Clay balls together until the colour is uniform.
3 Guide step %d Form the head and place it onto the base of the collage frame.
4 Guide step %d Push Foam Clay onto the base of the collage frame as the background. Now you may add hair, eyes, mouth, etc. mixed or modelled in Silk Clay.
Image-wise Guide step %d Spatial intelligence. Enhanced by activities in which children must use their abilities to perceive, recognise and express themselves within the spatial, real world.
Self-wise Guide step %d Personal intelligence. Enhanced by activities in which children must use their self-awareness, the ability to act and make personal decisions in a way which is adapted to match their surroundings.
