Wild Animals on Skeletons made with Silk Clay

Children's natural and spatial intelligence is enhanced by this creative project when combining biology and modelling. First, the children learn about different animals and how plant life and animal life are connected (nature-wise). The children then model the different animals from Silk Clay, which enhances their spatial intelligence (image-wise).

How to do it
1 Cut flower sticks into suitable lengths. This example shows legs and a long neck for a giraffe. Push the pointed ends of the sticks firmly into the polystyrene; here there are two eggs in different sizes for the body and the head.
2 Cover the finished skeleton with Silk Clay. Use a pipe cleaner for details; the tail, the horns etc.
3 A TIP: you may mix different colours of Silk Clay to make new colours. Here white and black are mixed to make grey.
4 A TIP: When making long body parts without a skeleton or pipe cleaners (for example tails), support the figure whilst drying in order for it to keep its shape. You may, for example, use a glass.
