Create unique works of art with oil pastels. Learn how to create effects and combine oil pastels using transfer techniques. Draw on the back of the design with oil pastels, experiment with colour combinations and transitions and then transfer your artwork using a transfer technique. The result is two beautiful, unique expressions based on the same sketch.

Find an illustration you want to work with and hold it up against a window with the front facing the window. Use whichever colours you want, draw the lines on the back of the paper. The light from the window allows you to see the lines through the paper.

Once you have drawn the design with oil pastel on the back, find a blank piece of paper.

Now place the design with the coloured side down on the blank paper, as shown in the picture.

If you want more colour on the transferred design, you can draw directly on it with oil pastels to highlight details and intensify the colours.

Use the hatching technique on the back of the design to bring the image to life. Scrape patterns with the hatching pen provided, as shown in the picture. Afterwards, your pictures are ready to be hung up.
