A knitted Basket made from Paper Yarn

1. Secure the Paper Yarn by tying it onto the small peg on the side of the knitting loom. Now wrap the yarn around each individual peg (making loops around each peg) on the knitting loom, going in the same direction (as here shown).

2. Cast a total of two rounds each time before starting the knitting. Always start on the peg to the left of the peg on the side of the knitting loom.

3. Use the knitting hook which is part of the knitting loom kit to lift – from each peg - the loop from the lower row over the upper loop around the whole of the knitting loom. Continue this process until you have reached the desired height. NB: Take into account the fold (here the entire length is 20cm) and do not knit too tightly, as Paper Yarn does not give.

4. Casting off: Lift two loops onto the knitting hook.

5. Finish: Pull the outer loop on the hook through to the inner loop. Now there is only one loop on the hook. Pull up a new loop from the next peg on the lom (clock wise). Pull this loop through the inner loop as described above. Continue like this around the loom.

6. Cut the Paper Yarn at the last loop. Pull the end of the Paper Yarn through the loop and tighten.

7. Turn the knitted tube inside out. Fold in the middle and stitch together with Paper Yarn where the two edges meet.

8. Fit four wooden sticks into the pre-drilled holes on the wooden base for stabilizing. Place the knitted tube around the wooden sticks onto the wooden base.

9. Sew the wooden base onto the knitted tube using Paper Yarn; through the pre-drilled holes and through both knitted layers twice. Use one of the needles from the knitting loom set.

Another variant This flowerpot is made following the same procedure for making the basket. Here, as a hanging basket, with three long pieces of paper yarn fed through the flowerpot and tied together in the holes of the wooden base. The flowerpot is then sewn onto the wooden base.
