Spinning tops decorated as little ballerinas

Make adorable little ballerinas that can spin around and around. The ballerinas are made of spinning tops and decorated with EVA foam flowers and beads. When they're finished, you can spin the spinning tops and watch the ballerinas’ arms lift in the air.

How to do it

You will need these materials for each spinning top: 1 large Eva foam flower, 1-2 medium flowers, 2 large beads with 7 mm holes and 8 small beads. You also need to cut 2 polyester cords of 20 cm each.

Remove the protective paper from the large flower and adhere it to the spinning top. Do the same with the flower in the middle.

You now need to make the ballerina’s arms. First, thread a bead until the middle of the cord. Gather the two ends and thread the remaining three beads on both ends of the cord. Repeat with the other piece of cord.

Now tie the arms to the large square bead. Pass one cord through the bead and tie a double knot.

Secure the other arm in the same way. Make sure the knot is tight and then cut off the ends.

Place a small dab of sticky base around the bottom of the spinning top stick.

Attach the square bead to the spinning top and press firmly.

Secure the round bead with sticky base in the same way and press it firmly down against the square bead. If too much sticky base has been used, the excess glue can be carefully removed.

Try different colours and variations. Allow the glue to dry for 6-12 hours and the ballerinas are ready to spin.
