Spray paint is not only for graffiti

Back in the day, spray painting was something that only troublemakers used when painting graffiti on walls. This is no longer the case, because spray paint is useful for so many different things. And thank goodness for that.

Spray paint is ideal if you need to paint things outdoors, because it is durable and easy to work with. Just make sure you’re only painting what you're permitted to paint. And don't forget to cover up areas where you don't want paint. Even the lawn. It cannot tolerate paint very well.

If you need to paint your flower pots or garden bench, spray paint is a great idea. Because the paint is in a spray bottle, it is easy to get it into places where a brush or roller would struggle. At the same time, it provides a very special surface that cannot be achieved using other tools.

When painting with a brush, marks appear after the brush strokes, and a roller also gives marks after the roller. With spray paint, you avoid any marks and you get a pretty, uniform surface. The only thing you need to be aware of is that you do not apply too thick of a layer, which will make the paint run. However, at the same time you must ensure that the paint covers the area completely so that there are no gaps.

Professional spray paint when materials matter

Whatever you need to make, materials are important in order to get a good result. If you use cheap or poor materials, you risk that the final result will be the same. That is, that it will look bad or cheap. If it doesn't matter what the result will look like, then it doesn't matter which materials you buy. But if the final result is important, you have to prioritise professional materials.

And who doesn't want to end up with something that looks completely professional?

Paint in a spray

Paint in a spray is different to work with than paint in a pot that you apply with a brush. Because the paint is sprayed out, it can be difficult to control where it hits. It is therefore important to be careful not to hit everything by accident when working with spray paint.

On the other hand, you can quickly paint large surfaces as one uniform surface and, if you want to paint your garden furniture for example, it is also a good idea to spray paint them. Spray paint makes it easier to get between the bars of the garden furniture. The same applies if you want to paint radiators. For projects like this, spray paint is really easy to deal with.

Do you think your kitchen is in need of some refreshment? Then spray paint may be just what you need. Instead of paying a lot to repaint your cabinets, you can do it yourself. Just remember to choose the right kind of spray paint that is not toxic and has a surface that can withstand use in a kitchen.

Create art with spray paint

Spray painting isn't just for practical purposes. You can create beautiful artworks using spray paint. Use it as a base colour, or as an effect on your paintings. Use stencils and molds to control where the spray paint ends up on your canvas. And get the best results with bright, pure colours.

You can also spray your things if you think they need a new beautiful colour or a new pattern. Remember to check whether the paint you have chosen matches the item you wish to paint. There may be a difference between painting porcelain, paper, wood, or some other material.

It’s just as important that you remember to cover up really well before you paint. Cover both the object to be painted, if not all of it needs the colour in question, and cover up around the item. Spray paint can be very difficult to remove, and it would be a shame if you painted else by mistake.

Remember to stay safe

Spray paint is pressurised paint. This means that there is a great deal of pressure inside the bottle, which means that the paint comes out when you press the valve. It’s smart, but it also means that the paint is atomised when it comes out of the bottle. That is, it comes out as a lot of tiny drops of paint.

When something is atomised, it is easier for us to breathe it in. And paint is not healthy to inhale. Depending on which paint you have purchased, toxicity levels vary. Some types of spray paint should not be used indoors at all, or at least only with strong ventilation. Other paints are not as toxic, but it is still not a good idea to inhale them.

Therefore, remember to protect not only your surroundings, but also yourself, before you start to work with spray paint. Remember to use a dust mask to help keep the atomized paint out of your airways.

If you need to paint something that requires you to keep your face close to what you are painting, we also recommend that you wear a pair of protective goggles in addition to the dust mask. This will protect you from getting spray paint in your eyes.

Depending on how much you need to paint, and how you handle the paint, it may also be a good idea to wear disposable gloves. Not only to avoid contact with the potentially toxic paint, but also to protect your hands from being coloured by the paint. Spray paint can be really difficult to remove from both fingers and clothes, so unless you want to walk around with paint on your hands for a long time afterwards, we recommend gloves. We also recommend an apron to protect your clothes from being ruined.

Of course, you can find masks, glasses and aprons on this page.
