Watercolour Block
A block of watercolour paper that gives you the best results with watercolours.
With a block like this, you can throw yourself safely into the technique of watercolour painting, because the watercolour paper’s textured surface embraces the shades perfectly. While you’re painting, leave the paper sitting in the block – each sheet is glued to the sides to prevent the paper from wrinkling or bending when you add water. Once your work is completely dry, you can carefully cut the paper off at the side with a knife.
With the watercolour block, you can:.
- Experiment with different painting techniques – e.g. wet-on-dry, wet-on-wet, lifting technique or gliding strokes
- Paint beautiful illustrations and hang them on the wall with poster hangers
- Make pretty watercolour feathers that can be hung on windowsills or branches
It's always important to have the right paper ready when painting with watercolours. In fact, paper quality is so crucial to your work that it should be your top-of-mind priority – because while ordinary paper curls when it comes into contact with water, watercolour paper stays smooth and even. This is because the sheets are glued together on all sides. This is not the only thing that makes watercolour paper special, however. Watercolour paper is also known for being thicker than regular paper, which helps make the watercolour tones even more attractive. This means that you are guaranteed the best results with watercolour paper – and when you have a whole block of watercolour paper, you're perfectly equipped to start making lots of pieces.
