1.   Print and cut out the template, available as a separate pdf file for this idea . NB: A seam allowance is included. Double over the fabric and cut out the snake's head. Cut the fabric part for the inside of the snake's mouth, also from doubled-over fabric. The actual mouth opening is from the dotted line.

2.   Sew the head together with the snake's inside mouth, outer side against outer side from the dotted line on one side to the dotted line on the opposite side.

3.   Sew the head together from the dotted line to the edge on both sides.

4.   Turn it inside out.

5.   Iron vliesofix onto the white cotton fabric and cut out two round eyes.

6.   Iron the eyes onto the head and sew them on with chain stitches or tacking stitches.

7.   Cut out the snake's joints from seven A4 size pieces of fabric. Cut out the snake's tail parts from the template (2 x 2 pieces).

8.   Sew the 2 x 2 tail pieces together, outer side against outer side and turn inside out. NB: iron the seams as you go along.

9.   Sew each of the seven joints together on the narrow side to make seven long tubes.

10.   Starting from the snake's head, sew each of the seven joints onto the snake.

11.   Fill the snake with polyester wadding as you go along. Do not use too much or else the snake will not be soft.

12.   When you have reached the seventh joint, leave an opening for turning the tail inside out.

13.   Close the opening with a needle and thread.

14.   Sew a button onto each eye for the pupil.

15.   Cut a piece of fabric for the tongue, measuring 11 x 25cm and iron on vliesofix.

16.   Double over the fabric along the long edge and iron it together.

17.   Double over once more and now cut the tongue according to the template. You may sew zigzag stitches along the edge. Then attach the tongue inside the snake's mouth.
