READY FOR SCHOOL

The clock rings and a new school year is underway – but are you ready? The start of the new school year can make many parents sweat, but don't panic. Let us present our school universe, where you can find all the supplies needed quickly and easily to give your child the best start after a long holiday. We have plenty of pencils, markers, glue, scissors and notebooks just made for popping inside the school bag or the pencil case. Even though most things today take place digitally, you can't avoid the practical tools. This doesn't mean that school supplies can't be cool or good-looking, though: check out our creative ideas and experience how easy it is for kids from 1st grade and older to put their own stamp on their pencil case, pencils and little notebook. Whether your child is starting primary school, secondary school or being homeschooled, there's always room for those little creative touches.

FILL UP THEIR SCHOOL BAG

Many of us can still remember our first school bag – right down to the colour, size and brand. The school bag is the most important companion throughout school – and a very heavy one. It helps your kids carry their books, pencils and notebooks to school and back again. So it's natural to want to give the school bag a creative makeover and make it more recognisable and personal:

  • you could make a cute keyring out of Silk Clay®
  • write fun words with rub-on sticker letters
  • avoid your child taking the wrong backpack home and embroider their name on their school bag
  • decorate the school bag with lots of cool stickers

After its fabulous makeover, your child will have a personal school bag that's easily recognisable. But wait! We've completely forgotten about the classic tote bag. The popular fabric bag is ideal for school outings and works perfectly as a gym bag and shoe bag. Let your child paint on a tote bag with textile markers and write their name on it with rub-on stickers. You can also choose a tote bag with a pre-printed motif for kids to colour in – whether it's one with ferocious pirates, beautiful mermaids or the fun characters from Shawn the Sheep

FILL UP THE PENCIL CASE

A pencil case isn't just a pencil case – right? Your child has probably thought a lot about the colours, shape and size of their first pencil case. And when it comes to older kids, last year's model is usually not so cool anymore. So what do you do? A pencil case in a personal design might be just what they need. You can paint, sew or decorate the pencil case together to make a masterpiece your child will look forward to showing off at school:

  • for example, sew the child’s name on using rocaille seed beads
  • paint the pencil case in your child’s favourite colours
  • draw on your favourite characters with textile markers

Once the pencil case is finished, now comes the fun part – filling it up. In addition to glue sticks, scissors and markers, remember the ergonomic pencils for all that writing and coloured pencils for all the creative fun. You can decorate all these supplies in a fun way. Make small figures from Silk Clay® that can sit on top of the pencil – so writing or drawing at school never gets boring.

THE BEST START TO THE NEW SCHOOL TERM

Whether it's the very first time or simply the start of a new grade, there can be butterflies in your tummy at the start of school. Together, you can make small preparations to make the transition from holiday to everyday much easier. For example, make a hanging mobile with letters and pictures that help the child gain a good understanding of the alphabet. Or make a practical pencil holder out of toilet rollsand decorate it with craft paint, cardboard, pom-poms and pipe cleaners. We've got plenty more creative ideas like these ones to give your child the best start in school.
