Discover a wealth of opportunities for creative projects with modelling plaster

Modelling plaster is the dream material for any hobby enthusiast. With its endless creative possibilities, modelling plaster lets you cast just the shape, pattern and anything else in your creative imagination.

With casting plaster, you can raise models out of nothing and you can cast all the exciting things you see around you. In short, casting plaster can be used for most things, so you can let your imagination run wild as soon as you have a bag of casting plaster in your hands.

That’s why casting plaster is also the perfect hobby project to start with with your children, who will love seeing shapes come to life in the white gypsum. But modelling plaster is certainly also for adults, which is why we have put together our assortment of modelling plasters for you right here on this page.

Here you will find several different types of model plaster, in bags in different sizes, so you can get exactly the right amount of modelling plaster to suit your project.

How plaster casting works

Casting plaster is sold as a powder in bags, and it is from this powder that the magic occurs. Modelling plaster gypsum behaves similarly to cement, as the powder is transformed into a solid mass when mixed with water.

That is why it is really simple to be creative and create all kinds of shapes with casting plaster, because all you have to do is mix it in the bag with the right volume of water. Then you stir everything together well, resulting in a plaster pulp that you can mould into the desired shape.

This makes it easy to make plaster models or casts, which is why a hobby project with modelling plaster is the perfect choice for a Sunday afternoon with the children. Children, and inner children alike will love working with the soft plastert pulp, and once their fingers get into it, the creative energy will start to bubble.

But remember: you need to be quick, because once you have mixed your plaster powder with water, there is only a certain amount of time before it becomes hard as a stone. However, if you have an action plan, you will find plenty of time to shape sculptures and so on, before the mass becomes too hard to work with.

When you have finished your plaster cast or model, you must wait for it to dry completely, then you will have a personal work of art that is hard as stone, and will stand forever if it is not exposed to water and does not fall onto a hard floor.

Detailed plaster castings of anything you like

The major advantage of working with modelling plaster is that you and your fellow hobbyists can create exactly what you have envisioned. Casting plaster allows you to let your imagination run wild and do whatever you want.

This is why modelling plaster is particularly popular for casting. It allows you to cast different shapes you come across that will create a unique, personal work of art for your home.

For example, you can use model plaster to capture the magical baby years, through a plaster cast of the child’s hand or foot. It’s easy, straightforward and fun for both child and parent. Simply mix a suitable amount of plaster and let your little one press a hand or foot into it.

The hand or foot print will remain in the plaster mass, and once it has dried completely, you will be left with a life-long decorative memento that you can hang on the wall, allowing you to fondly recall the magical baby years every day.

Similarly, you can capture everything else that inspires you or that you want to be reminded of every day. It might be a beautiful animal track you see in the forest, or another decorative element that you have discovered in nature, and that you would like to capture and take home with you.

For example, if you see a beautiful animal track, mix a small amount of modelling plaster and pour it onto the track, surrounded by an edge that you can make from cardboard. The plaster will fill the form thus created, and once the plaster has solidified, you can remove it.

These are just a few examples of what you can cast by either pouring the plaster compound into a mould or by pressing something into it, so don't be hesitant to put your creativity to work when dealing with modelling plaster.

Modelling with plaster

Plaster can also be used for modelling, where you can work on a statue with different tools, for example, so that you do not need to cast at all. Modelling offers even more opportunities with plaster, and you can really create anything you want.

Modelling gypsum has been used for centuries to make busts and statues, so you have the opportunity to follow in a proud tradition by buying a bag of modelling plaster here at Creativ Company.
