Your guide to glue

Glue for paper and card

When you work with paper and card, there are many options when it comes to glue – and we have a wide range we can recommend.

For children, glue sticks are really handy – they are easy to control and their small size is perfect for the pencil case in the school bag. A glue stick is also a lot less mess than a liquid glue – and it can be used all year round.

When Christmas is approaching, it can be used for Christmas decorations – both for the long garlands and the classic Christmas hearts. And at Easter, children can glue small Easter chicks and pretty Easter figures made of card.

The glue stick wins hands-down when it comes to children’s cutting and pasting projects – so it’s good to have a stock of them in cabinets and drawers. Of course, hobby glue and school glue can also be used – but because they are both liquid, they can be harder to control for younger children.

For adults, we have our flexible Clear Multi Glue Gel – this is often used for making homemade decorations in card and paper, and is one of the most versatile glues we stock. For example, you can make the cutest spring rosettes. These are super-easy to make and look great on window sills. Staying with card and cardboard decorations, you can also make the cutest Easter eggs with Clear Multi Glue Gel. You won't need much – just some sheets of card in different colours, a pen knife and pressed flowers. And poof! You’re on your way. Use the glue to stick the flowers onto the cardboard eggs. When this is done, make one for hanging and insert the thread – and then your eggs are ready to decorate.

Perhaps you’re more into scrapbooking than Easter decorations – if this is the case, forget about liquid glue. Instead, take a look at our double-sided adhesive tape –  it’s both easy to use and great for photos and cardboard cut-outs.

Glue for jewellery

Glue is not just for paper and cardboard, but is also ideal if you'd like to make your own jewellery – or if you need to repair a piece when it breaks. It might look a bit tricky if it’s the first time you're making your own jewellery – but it’s easier than you think. All you need is the right glue – and for jewellery making, we recommend our power glue. These dry quickly – and ensure that your homemade earrings, necklace or bracelet will last.

For example, you can make the cutest bracelets with red cherries and yellow lemons. Fruit jewellery is really popular right now – and if you have teenagers in the house, they're sure to love making their own bracelets with fruit motifs. The idea is right here – and you'll need a really good power glue. Luckily, you’ll find our best power glue right here.

If you prefer to make jewellery based on your imagination, you have plenty of options. You can mix and match the colours and beads you like best – and get a personal piece of jewellery that matches you and your style. As long as you have the glue ready, you can make durable jewellery with many different expressions.

If you're patient enough, you can also use the cheaper Clear Multi Glue Gel. The drying time is much longer – but you can always spend the waiting time making even more earrings, necklaces and bracelets for yourself and your loved ones.

Decoupage glue

We have lots of exciting projects with decoupage – including some where the children can help too. It often takes no more than a brush and decoupage lacquer to get started. Decoupage lacquer works both as a glue and a lacquer – and is particularly good if you're working with textiles such as cut-out pieces of fabric.

Are you the type who loves to make decoupage when Christmas and Easter are approaching? We can totally relate – it’s a fun and cosy activity, and even the children can join in.

When making decoupage you should always choose a decoupage lacquer. It works as both a glue and a lacquer – and should preferably be applied with a good brush. Once you have control of both brush and decoupage lacquer, you're all set to dive into some of our exciting projects with deoupage. 

For example, you can make a cute bunny family for the Easter table. You cut out their clothes in floral fabric and glue them on with decoupage lacquer. The result is the finest little bunny family in beautiful, Easter-ready clothes. See the idea right here.

If you want to explore other projects within decoupage, we also have our lovely Easter eggs. The eggs are decorated with dried flowers – and can bring joy to any Easter table when they are finished. Glue on the flowers with decoupage varnish – also on top. When the glue is dry, brush the whole egg with decoupage varnish. The result is small, pretty eggs that can easily decorate your home throughout the spring.
