Try these five different painting techniques. Materials like balloons, pom-poms, a spatula, masking tape and cardboard tubes are used –after which the artworks are decorated with glitter flowers in EVA foam, googly eyes or with marker details. How to do it

Use the colours as they are or create pastel colours by adding a small amount of colour to white, as shown in the picture.

Squirt blobs of paint onto a piece of cardboard or paint palette. Dip a pom-pom into the paint and dab a random pattern on the paper. Use a different pom-pom for each colour. Continue until the design covers the entire paper. Then allow the paint to dry.

Use a brush to create the flower stems. Leave enough space for the flowers at the top of each stem.

Dip a pom-pom into the paint. You can dip in several colours if desired. For a nice effect, dab large round dots in a circle to create a flower at the top of the stem. Allow the paint to dry.

Squirt small blobs of paint in different colours along the top of the paper, as shown in the picture. You may want to practice this technique on a piece of cardboard before making your final painting.

Hold the spatula at around a 30-degree angle and move it in an arc motion towards the bottom of the paper to create lines of paint.

Inflate three balloons – do not fill them completely – and tie a knot. Dip the end of the balloon into one of the paint combinations to make a three-coloured print.

Press the balloon down onto the paper (if you want, you can practice on a piece of cardboard before making your final painting).

Lift up the balloon. Several prints can be made before dipping the balloon into the paint again. Use a different balloon for each colour combination. Allow the paint to dry.

Cut notches all the way around the cardboard tube with scissors. The notches should be approximately the same length.

Make two circles with two colours of paint on a piece of paper or cardboard, as shown here. The two circles should have approximately the same diameter as the cardboard tube.

Place the tube on top of the circles of paint and slide it back and forth slightly to spread the paint across the bottom of the notches.

Press the roll flat against the paper to make a print. Experiment with making several prints on top of each other.
