The painting’s motifs are created with stencils/templates cut into cardboard and a good artist acrylic paint dabbed on with a sponge.
How to do it Download the templates/recipes

Base colour and stencils Paint a canvas with a sponge and a diluted, good acrylic paint. Allow to dry. Draw and cut templates/stencils in cardboard for the background and foreground of the painting. Motifs could be e.g. animals, circles and instruments.

Stencil print for background Apply tape where the cardboard has been cut to make each stencil intact. Background motifs: Attach a stencil to the canvas with two pieces of masking tape and dab on the paint with a holey sponge. Repeat and allow to dry. Choose the second motif and a new colour and add more stencil prints to the background. Allow to dry.

Observational drawing and template Draw a large cat following the previous sketch/template. Cut out the cat into a stencil and draw it onto the painting with a pencil. Fill it with white paint and allow to dry.
