Make a homemade scrunchie hair bobble from patchwork fabric or organza fabric with a piece of elastic beading cord using a handheld sewing machine.

1   Cut a 50 x 18 cm piece of your chosen fabric for each scrunchie hair bobble.

2   Fold the patchwork fabric - right sides together - around a hair bobble, matching the long ends. Keep the fabric in place with pins.

3   Fold in the edges as shown in the photo and secure with pins before sewing together.

4   Sew the long edges of the fabric together using a handheld sewing machine. Important: Don't pull the fabric. The handheld sewing machine needs to work at its own speed. Secure the end of the sewn section by feeding the thread through the loop on the back of the sewn section.

5   Turn the fabric right side out.

6   Fold the short ends of the fabric inwards (to the wrong side) by 1.5 cm. Place the sewn edges opposite each other and secure with pins.

7   Sew the two ends together by hand.

8   Double over the organza fabric and secure with pins.

9   Sew the organza fabric together along the edge. A tip: the handheld sewing machine can be used with ordinary spools of thread, however, no bigger than 6 cm. You will need to use the supplied long pin. Follow the instructions in the supplied booklet and thread the handheld sewing machine with thread that matches the organza fabric.

10   Turn the fabric right side out.

11   Cut an approx. 30 cm piece of elastic beading cord, depending on the thickness of your hair. Double over the cord and tie a knot as shown in the photo. Feed the elastic cord through the organza fabric tube. A tip: secure the elastic cord with a pin to the fabric at one end to prevent the cord from coming out at the other end.

12   Tie the two cord ends together tightly, creating a ring as shown in the photo.

13   Fold in the edges and sew the fabric together as described in step 6.
