1.   Print the template, which is available as a separate pdf file, for this idea. Note that a seam allowance is included in the template. Cut out the individual parts of the template, draw them onto the fabric and cut out: 2 x body and head, as well as 4 x arms, legs and ears.

2.   Embroider two different facial expressions (asleep and awake) using chain stitches. One expression on each head.

3.   Iron Vliesofix onto the back of the cotton fabric, placing baking paper between the iron and the Vliesofix. Vlisofix has a double-sided adhesive web for fabric application, joining the two fabrics together.

4.   Iron a head onto each body.

5.   Sew the arms, the legs, the ears together in pairs (outer side against outer side). Leave a small opening at the bottom so you can turn it inside out.

6.   Fill the arms, legs and ears with polyester wadding, (not too much, otherwise the teddy bear will not be soft)

7.   Place all the body parts between the outer sides of the two fabric pieces that make up the body. Insert pins in order to keep the body parts in place. You may use tacking stitches to keep the body parts in place.

8.   Sew along the edge of the body, securing all the attached body parts which are attached onto the outer side of the fabric. Sew on the inner side of the fabric. Leave a small 5cm opening at the bottom.

9.   Turn the body inside out.

10.   Fill the teddy bear with polyester stuffing and close the hole with backstitches.
