1   Print and cut out the template sheet, which you can find as a separate PDF file at the bottom of this page. Cut out all the parts for the flower. Remember to cut along the guide lines shown on the template.

2   Place all the flower parts on a non-absorbent surface. Spray the parts with water, so they are ready for wet-on-wet colour with watercolour.
Guide step %d
3   Draw some lines with a watercolour marker from the bottom of the flower towards the tip – making sure you are light-handed. Use both pink and orange. Drying time: 1 hour.
Guide step %d
4   Cut a 1–4 mm-wide fringe, making sure to leave 0.5–1 cm at the bottom. Then shape the stamens by rolling the piece with the fringe tightly together. Roll the piece between your hands so the individual tassels become thinner – and you can also try twisting or bending the fringe.
Guide step %d
5   Glue the stamens to the end of a strong flower stick.
Guide step %d
6   Keep glueing along the way as the stamens are rolled on in one layer.
Guide step %d
7   Now shape the petals. First use your thumbs to stretch the leaves around the middle and then roll the tips together.
Guide step %d
8   Glue the petals around the stamens – start by glueing the smallest ones on the inside.
Guide step %d
9   Glue the petals in a staggered fashion, making sure that they are evenly distributed so that the flower head has a rounded shape.
Guide step %d
10   Finish the flower on the back by glueing on green leaves. Let the leaves go down some of the floral wire.
Guide step %d
11   Cover the stem with the green strip. Stretch the strip out and glue the end of the strip to the bottom of the green leaves and then diagonally down over the flower stem.
