Fold your own Christmas baubles from origami paper. Use the origami technique, folding a bauble from 12 pieces of paper, assembling it without glue. Fold all the pieces of paper identically and assemble to form a bauble. Attach a piece of string to one of the joints for hanging the bauble, prior to complete assembly.

How to do it

1
Fold the paper in the middle.

2
Fold the two sides toward the middle.

3
Fold the top right corner and the bottom left corner inward onto the score line as shown in the photo.

4
Fold the corners once more – still along the outer score line – to form a narrow triangle.

5
Fold the top and the bottom sections (with the folded corners) towards the score line in the middle.

6
Fold the corners towards the opposite edge. Fold the top corner on the left towards the bottom edge as shown in the photo.

7
Now fold the bottom right corner towards the top edge of the paper.

8
Push the two corners underneath the folded triangles underneath as shown in the photo.

9
Now the folded piece of paper looks like this.

10
Fold the paper in the middle so that the two points are folded like a crown.

11
Fold the two points down to create four equal sized triangles on top of each other.

12
The folding is now complete and consists of four equally large triangles. Repeat steps 1-11 12 times in total (with a total of 12 folded pieces of origami paper).

13
Assemble the 12 folded pieces of paper to make four large points. Begin by assembling three pieces of folded paper to one point by pushing the points inside the pockets of the triangles as shown in the photo.

14
Push them together to eliminate any gaps inbetween the points.

15
Assemble the four points one by one using the same procedure as described in steps 13-14.

16
Cut a 10 cm piece of string, double it over and tie at one end with a triple knot. Push it through where one of the sides join together prior to completing the assembly of the bauble with the last of the – in total – 12 pieces of folded paper.
