A Make-up Bag with a Metal Clasp made from Patchwork Fabric

1   Place the two pieces of fabric on top of each other and cut out using the template available as a PDF file on this page.

2   Sew the sides together of the outer bag and the inner bag. Iron or press the seam on each side.

3   Turn the outer bag (the floral fabric) with the outer side facing outwards. Insert it inside the inner bag making sure that all four corners match and assemble the two bags with pins.

4   Sew the two bags together at the top on three sides (not the fourth, short side). Cut notches all the way around.

5   Pull the outer bag out through the opening and push the inner bag inside, making sure it fits properly. Sew the opening together by hand. You may press the seams.

6   Pull one side of the bag into the metal clasp. Adjust the fabric so that the fourth hole in the metal frame is matching the seam at the side. Copy on the other side. Mark and attach the fabric onto the metal clasp with pins.

7   Sew the fabric onto the metal clasp. Begin from the back very close to the edge and push the needle out through the hole. Push the needle through the next hole and out onto the back very close to the edge, making sure that the thread is not noticeable. Push the needle out through the next hole and back into the previous hole. Continue until you have finished the entire side. Repeat steps 6 and 7 on the opposite side.
